Let's meet Beth Hancock!

 1.)   How long have you been scrapbooking? Since December 2005, when I went to my first crop at Savannah Scrapbooking.

2.)   How did you get started? (What made you get into the hobby?)  I started out wanting to scrapbook our vacations for my sons.  I thought I could just do those pictures and I could stay "caught up".  But I liked scrapbooking too much and now it consumes me and my money.

3.)   Do you think you have a scrapping style? (Simple, eclectic, freestyle, whimsy, shabby chic, symmetrical, traditional, etc…)  I would say most of my layouts are simple, traditional and usually symmetrical in some manner.  I do layouts with more than 1 or 2 pictures most of the time.

4.)   What is/are your favorite scrapbooking product(s) at the moment?  Threading water punch by Fiskars!!!

5.)   What scrap tool can you NOT live without?   www.pagemaps.com 

6.)   Do you watch t.v or listen to music while scrapping? If so, what?   I listen to music of different types - no TV in my scraproom. 

7.)   Do you have a favorite treat/beverage while scrapping? What?  Sweet tea and chocolate

8.)   How often do you scrap?  I currently have a scrap table setup so I try to scrap some everyday but do not always finish a layout everyday but end up with more like 4-5 layouts a week.  Though for the past few weeks I have hardly scrapped.

9.)   What kind of stuff do you scrap most often? (Family, vacations, pets, yourself, etc)  For my 2 boys, I have an album for each of them of our vacations, school and Cub Scouts.  Then I have albums by year of everthing else.

 

I cropped with Beth this past weekend and managed to snag a few pics of some of her lovely layouts.  I love how she manages to incorporate several photos plus fun papers and embellishments into her layouts without making them look all mashed up. Love 'em!!

So let's see what she says about scrapping...

I was introduced to "scrapbooking" in 1995.  I was invited to an in home scrapbooking party by an Army wife while we were at Ft. Lewis, WA.  What a joke, I thought.  Who has time to sit around and scrapbook when there's other things to do? 

Then, in 2002, I got pregnant.  About the same time in my life, my Mom handed me a photo album full of pictures of me growing up.  As I sat going through all these pictures, I think I started crying.  I had NO idea when half of them were taken.  The only real way to tell the year of some, were glasses or no glasses, perm or no perm.  Ridiculous!!! 

There was this cute little store on Willmington Island that started to intrigue me.  I think the thought of my unborn child, not knowing her history, really got me started.

     In 2003, my not as close then friend Sherry and I began talking in Sunday school about this "scrapbooking" thing.  How we wanted to dabble in it a little.  She invited me to her home on National Scrapbooking day 2003.  So it began (to suck all the money from me)!

 

    I really love clean lines, but a high degree of difficulty!  The harder it is, and the longer it takes, the better it is!  (If I get angry at least once, I will love that page!)

    There are two can't live without tools that I have.  My book of ideas (if you've seen it, it's ridiculous) and my cricut machine.

    My absolutely favorite product is Doodlebug.  Thanks Jamie for keeping me well supplied while you had the shop.  I think they have great basic papers that can be used on anything!

 

     I have to have noise when I scrap.  Any noise will do, just not the 5 year old calling my name over and over.

     I love to snack while I scrap.  Mostly sour stuff.  Sour Patch Kids are great.  I also like to eat peanut butter because I know I will not be seeing my daughter who has an allergy to it.  (only if she's spending the night out)

    

 Only a few times a month do I get to scrap.  I am hoping to change that though.  I have taken back my scrap room.

    

 I mostly scrap my daughter.  Lately, I have been working on our Disney trip.

 

     The page I have selected, is my Fire Chief of the day.  I took my favorite shade of Bazil dark red, and a scalloped off white Bazzil, a Christmas paper from who knows what line, gold stickles, and brushed gold brads.  While trying to figure out the layout, I got a little help from a wonderful friend who asked why everything had to be in the box, so this is what came of not fitting everything in a box.  I LOVE this layout!  It took a hard subject with not great pictures, and made it look fun and wonderful.

Let's meet Lisa Acosta!

Lisa is co-owner of Scrapbooks n' Stuff in Miami, Florida.  We've become cyber friends, and I stalk her blog daily.  ;) Here we go...

1.)   How long have you been scrapbooking?

I've been scrapping since 2000.  I've tried other crafts such as cross-stitch and crochet but scrapbooking has definitely stuck the longest.  I love exercising my creative side and preserving memories at the same time. 

2.)   How did you get started? (What made you get into the hobby?)

Like many, I was forced to go to a CM party by my SIL.  I was hooked immediately and could barely wait to get my goodies that I had ordered.  I would case the Ms and Js in my area on a near daily basis.  In 2001 I opened a LSS with a friend and we've made a decent little living off it over the years.  My how scrapbooking has changed since the days of the 30' wall o' stickers and Paperkins.   

3.)   Do you think you have a scrapping style? (Simple, eclectic, freestyle, whimsy, shabby chic, symmetrical, traditional, etc…)

I characterize my my style as being usually simple.  But every now and then I get inspired to spice it up because of some new idea book or product line.  Usually my class projects for the store are much more elaborate than my own personal pages.  I tend to scrap in spurts, so I am always trying to catch up.  I am also a pretty fast scrapper, an hour or less for most layouts.  I rarely stamp or do anything CRAZY like sewing or embossing!   

4.)   What is/are your favorite scrapbooking product(s) at the moment?

The funny thing is that I am always behind the times in terms of what I actually use on my own pages.  I am addicted to Cats Eye chalk inks lately, and I'm revisiting eyelets with my Crop-a-dile.  As for paper lines, I really like those Imaginisce penguins in the A Shore Thing collection.  I also love K&Co, Heidi Grace, American Crafts, Reminisce, and I will always love a good Jolee's. 

5.)   What scrap tool can you NOT live without?

I recently switched adhesives and I LOVE the Tombow Permanent Dots dispenser.  I love the bond that it gives you with textured cardstock, and the ease of cartridge replacement. 

6.)   Do you watch t.v or listen to music while scrapping? If so, what?

My scrap area is in the home office, where there's no TV.  Sometimes I listen to music, usually my iTunes collection or Pandora (amazing!) on the computer.  My music taste is pop, much to my husband's chagrin.  My favorite artists are Gwen Stefani, Fergie, Robyn, and I even like Ms. Britney. 

7.)   Do you have a favorite treat/beverage while scrapping? What?

I don't usually eat while I scrap.  Sometimes a coffee if I am scrapping at the store.  Actually scrapbooking tends to get my mind off food, which is a good thing for me and the scale. 

8.)   How often do you scrap?

I scrap almost every day because of the store, we make TONS of sample pages and custom kits.  I scrap my own stuff maybe once a week, unless I get obsessive like I am right now. 

9.)   What kind of stuff do you scrap most often? (Family, vacations, pets, yourself, etc)

I'm married with 2 daughters ages 9 & 10, so I scrap mostly family stuff, but I do alot of personal scrapping too.  I always have my camera on me, so I get alot of real life stuff.  I've done pages about us always eating dinner in front of the TV (tsk tsk), coloring my hair, going out to eat, beach outings, concerts, etc.  We just went on a Caribbean cruise last month, so I have been busy working on that lately.  I'd like to have it scrapped before the summer is over. 

10.)   If you’re submitting a layout, or have one you want me to steal off your blog, tell  us a little about it.  What do you like about it? 

I am showing off my Dolphin encounter page from the cruise.  I did the layout for a recent class called Tropical Color Blocking.  I am a color blocking fanatic!  I love getting lots of photos, journaling, and embellishments onto a layout.  There is a flap at the top left side for hidden journaling.  The papers were from the recent Tide Pools collections by Creative Imaginations which I should have taken MORE of before it sold out, oh well.  I was pleased to get a class project and some personal scrapping done at the same time.

Let's meet our scrappy pal Deb Evans!

I asked Deb lots of questions so we can get to know her better...ready? Okay, let's go!

Question 1:   How long have you been scrapbooking?

 

It's hard to say "how long" I've been scrapbooking because I've always kind of put photos and things together even when I was little, but I would say I really got into Scrapbooking after I got married (6 years ago).  When I got pregnant with my first child I was working at Frances Meyer (a scrapbook Company), so I was always thinking about Scrapbooking!  I did a pregnancy scrapbook and first year scrapbook for my son and am trying to finish books up for my daughter now.

 

Question 2. How did you get started? (What made you get into the hobby?)

 

My first real "scrapbook" was my Honey Moon book and my Pregnancy book.  I just wanted to put together a memory book with my photos.  I didn't even have a paper trimmer.  I mostly just cut out the photos and used photo corner stickers.  When I got my job at Frances Meyer I was able to learn about all the cute paper, stickers, and scrapbooking tools!

 

Question 3. Do you think you have a scrapping style? (Simple, eclectic, freestyle, whimsy, shabby chic, symmetrical, traditional, etc…)

 

Do I have Style?  I don't know?  I try to just have FUN with it and don't worry about those things.  I use to want to get published really bad and I did get a layout put in magazine, but after that experience I learned that it's too stressful to keep up with it all and I missed just having fun with it.  So now...for me it's all about just enjoying it!

 

Question 4.  What is/are your favorite scrapbooking product(s) at the moment?

 

I love my cutter bee paper trimmer, Zig Pens, and Tombow Mono Multi Glue!

 

Question 5.  What scrap tool can you NOT live without?

 

Herma Tabs...if that's a tool.

 

Question 6.   Do you watch t.v or listen to music while scrapping? If so, what?

 

Most of the time Noggin is on the TV, but sometimes I like to listen to the music on my blog while I scrapbook.

 

Question 7. Do you have a favorite treat/beverage while scrapping? What?

 

It use to be COKE!!  But, I'm trying to lose weight and am drinking diet drinks now.

 

Question 8.   How often do you scrap?

 

Whenever I can do it!  I am trying hard to finish up my daughter's first year book.  She turned a year old this March.

 

Question 9.   What kind of stuff do you scrap most often? (Family, vacations, pets, yourself, etc)

I scrap layouts of my children growing up!

I LOVE this page so much because of the look on my son's face!  He was having so much fun and I think you can see that in the layout.  I also love the orange fish!

This one below is using all Frances Meyer stuff.  I like it because I thought the bees were cute and again because I liked the photo.  I thought it all matched really good with the photo.  FYI:  I took the picture to match the paper because for this layout I was trying to make the Frances Meyer Design Team (I wasn't working there at this time...the company had moved up North).  I was in the top 10, but didn't make the team.

Okay, I love this page below...but I totally copied the idea from a page I saw in a magazine.  I don't do that very often because that takes time and I like to just throw my page together...but I liked the title and the heart..and I had the paper!!
