Showsie Tellsie...

Ahhhh... I LOVE Sunday afternoons in the Penthouse.  I got my workout finished up, did the dishes, and headed upstairs to play for a few hours. Between shrieking at Julio Jones and the Falcons, I managed to squeak out a couple of layouts, sort through some of the mounds of crap laying on my table, and plan a couple of pages for later.

I haven't taken pics of the new layouts yet, but I still have some from the last time I was in scrappy mode, so let's have a looky, shall we?

Lots of softball stuff...

I can honestly say that I think I have EVERY single softball paper and embellishment that's been on the market in the last ten years. 

I love that the coach gave me the line up paper from the game where Miss Priss hit her grand slam homerun... I included it in the layout above.

And I've even got a handful of custom SCPS papers and embellishments from back in the good ol' days when I could order anything I wanted and get it at cost... sigh...

Okie dokie, that's all I've got.  Anybody else do any scrappin' lately?

Show and Tell!

I've been squeaking in a little time here and there to head up to the Penthouse and get some scrappin' done, but keep forgetting to take pics of the layouts.  But finally finally finally, I remembered to grab the stack while I was upstairs last night digging out Christmas ornaments, so I grabbed the camera and started snapping.

Let's see what we've got...

I love this one!  Of course, I'll probably get in trouble for posting it, but I couldn't stand not to.  It documents how Miss Priss and her friends have evolved from searching for seashells to hunting for hotties.  This past summer we ended up with a whole mess of teenage boys lurking around our condo.  It was pretty hilarious!

And this one makes me shudder at the thought of my child propelling herself down a soapy tarp while surrounded by drunken laughing adults in the middle of the night. 

And I can't remember if I posted this one or not... our freezing cold, rainy 5k at Tybee back in February.

Clean and simple... lots of rub-ons.

I've got a few more, but I'll save them for later.  I've gotta start cookin' dinner (spaghetti)... the manhunk will be home soon!

Show and tell...

I played in the Penthouse last night...

 
Sure do wish I could scan these in instead of taking crappy pics, but alas... I haven't figured out the new scanner.  Well, actually I think I've figured out that I hate the new scanner... yes, that's what I've figured out.

But I don't hate this...

 
I've been itchin' to use this cute chocolate paper from K&Co.  Sure, stinky sticky marshmud is FAR from the sweet  smooth chocolate, but I think it's funny.  And these two are definitely not so sweet. ;)

This girl here is pretty sweet though...

 
Aw, Shady lovin'.  I love those MAMBI chipboard stickers...very fun.

And sure, "Wet run" probably isn't the best title for a page, but I could only scrape up a w, e, and a t in my glittery chipboard letters, and well... it was a run, so I mean hey, why try to be fancy schmancy right?

So yay! I got a lot accomplished!

The Tide rolled, I rolled... heck, I'd say it was a dang good Saturday night. ;)

I'm back from my double A Plus superdy duperdy whoop ass weekend with the girls. Sure, most people go to beautiful Tybee Island to catch some rays, but when Sid, Deiha, Kristine and I go, we hole up in the condo and scrap our booties off. 

There's always plenty of inappropriate stories, FOOD (courtesy of Sid, the super bad kitchen temptress), movies, booze and of course... scrapbooking!

I think I did like 21 pages this time around, which is MUCH better than last time when I got only 8 or so finished.  Most of the layouts are from our July 4th week at Tybee, so it was easy to pack for the crop because I knew that I only had to bring Summer/vaca/family embellishments... this definitely makes things easier when you're a traveling scrapper. 

So, let's have some show and tell... 

(I had to take photos of the layouts instead of scanning them because we got a new scanner, and I haven't invested the time into figuring out how to work the little bastard.  So bear with me okay?)

 

 

I love this next one...
 

I used it to document the differences we saw at this year's 4th of July fireworks show... like the social/friends aspect, and the overabundance of cell phones, and the fact that they no longer use glow sticks for cute little bracelets and instead pop them open and use the (hopefully nontoxic) goo inside of them as body paint.  Nice.

I needed a little more room so I added a flipper...

 

 
 

It was a PERFECT weekend...

 

...even if it was a little bit on the windy side thanks to madam Irene who passed off our shores.

 

 

 

I CAN'T wait to do it AGAIN!!! ;)

Christmas in July...

Get out your yule logs and egg nog, because I raided Kristine's Christmas scrapbook that she's been working on for like EVER, and had my way with her layouts.

There are a couple of very specific things I love about Kristine's scrapbooking:

1.) She can fit multiple photos on a layout better than anybody I know.

2.) She's not afraid of patterned paper... and we all know how much we love patterned paper!

3.) She's got EVERY embellishment ever known to man (and then some) and she's great at finding places to put them on her layouts.

Her only weakness?  Journaling... so if you see some blank spots, you can assume that's where she'll (eventually) insert the stories to go with the photos.

So let's take a gander shall we?

Don't worry!  Kristine didn't go off and have another baby... this is her niece.  Since she's got a house full of boys, she loves scrappin' her in-law's baby girls. 

And with these little cuties, how can she resist? (There are two more nieces awaiting First Christmas pages of their own... I noticed one was halfway completed, laying on the scrap table when I went to steal her album from the Penthouse.)

(Look, a blank journaling box... ha ha.)  I love the colors on this one... it's always fun to use nontraditional color schemes for traditional holidays!

And I love this one of her great grandma...

Another cool thing about Kristine's layouts is that they (for the most part) actually have teenage BOYS in them.  Yes that's right... God has blessed my bestie with boys who don't feel like they have to leave the room every time the camera comes out.  The fact that they play along is a testiment to how much they love her... they're really sweet boys.

And may I just say that I'm a little covetous of the fact that she's remembered to bring her camera to every single tree picking excursion they've ever made.  Dammit. I remembered to bring my camera... once... when Miss Priss was three. 

Oh, and another great idea that she's had is this...

 

Christmas isn't just about the big events... it's about the everyday interaction and fun with family around the house during Christmas break.  

And speaking of fun with family, I've gotta tell you one of the best things about having a friend who loves taking photos AND comes to spend Christmas Eve with your family every year, is that you (I) get to see yourself in her layouts when you bust into her personal territory and steal her stuff for your blog.

(Did I mention that she has a talent for incorporating a GOZILLION photos on a page?  She's good, I tell you!)

And Kristine is my best friend, my sister really.  Her family is MY family, and it makes me the happiest girl in the world to know that she considers Christmas Eve at my mom's scrapbook worthy...

And of course each year we have to take the obligatory family photos...

And with a gorgeous family like this, the photos are always a treat!

 
 

I love how she used the smaller photos to capture the outtakes... yet another awesome idea Teeny!!

 Okay... I'm feelin' the yuletide lovin' for sure after looking at all of these layouts!  And for approximately twelve seconds, I actually forgot all about the 98 degree temperatures outside.  Oh I can't wait until Christmas!!

(Is it too early to start making my wishlist?)

 

 

 

Showsie Tellsie...

Lookit me go! Not only did I get two layouts completed, but I've actually managed to get in here to the scanner (which is in Miss Priss' bedroom, aka 'the trash pit') and get these suckers loaded on the ol' blogeroosky.

I'm dying to get up to the Penthouse and play around with my new scrap goodies, but now that I've finished the fireplace in the living room, I've gotta tackle the walls and trim (trim... ~shudder~) so no scrapping for me this weekend.

So I'll just make myself feel better by lookin' at these two layouts and havin' sweet dreams of more to come.

The truth of the matter is that I call Miss Priss' group of school friends the Nerd Herd.  What can I say, I'm an evil mom and love to torture my child.  It's what I do best.  ;)  And since she's not going back to school with the rest of them, I asked her to get them all together for one last photo while they were at the Spring dance.  Surprisingly, she actually got them all in the pic... she said it was like herding cats, no pun intended.

I listed all the girls names on the back of the page so she can remind herself who was who one day when she's walking down memory lane.  And the pic of just the four girls is her fave because those are her core group inside of the larger sphere of friends.  I think it turned out cute.

And then, speakin' of cute...

 
...I don't know who this little teenager is, but I think she kidnapped my daughter.  Sigh, Miss Priss... why must you grow?  Why?  

(The title, My Girl, shows up better in real life, honest.  But I didn't want to do a flashy bold title to take away from the simple cuteness of the photos anyway.)

And now, I will return to the living room and start scraping the peeling paint off of the fireplace mantle and other bits of neglected woodwork.  Wish me luck!

Show and Tell...

Cue the chorus of angels... I have two, yes TWO scrapbook pages to share!

One is from a couple of weeks ago when Kristine and I had an impromptu night in the Penthouse, and the other's from this weekend when Sid and Kristine came over for a much deserved girls' night. 

I'm supposed to be organizing my albums and (finally) getting all my layouts in page protectors, but I had the urge to play and squirt some of my creative juices.  So I shoved the stacks of layouts aside and got to scrappin'... ah the  joy.

Here's the a two-pager of Miss Priss' birthday party, "Superstar Thirteen" (for lack of a more creative title... plus I had that cute star paper and just enough red chipboard letters.)

The red box on the left page will have journaling in it, I just gotta get back upstairs and take care of that real quick.

And this one's just a silly nonsense page about the Miss Priss and Neighbor Girl acting like goofballs out in the backyard last fall. 

And the best news of all is that Big Dave is workin' this evening and Miss Priss is spending the night out which leaves me with nothing to do but go back to the Penthouse and play some more, yay!

A bit more show and tell...

I found a pile of layouts that never made it to the ol' bloggy, so I thought I'd throw 'em on here...

 

I can't believe it's been two years since Big Dave and Miss Priss brought home that cardboard box of fluffy chickies.  Wow.

 

 
 
 
 
Love this monster paper... and the 3-d embellies are from last year's K&Company Halloween line.  Ah, a fun way to use up my excessive stash of Halloween stuff on a non-Halloween layout.  Yum!

Alrighty... hoping to get a few more layouts finished soon and will definitely share. ;)

Looky looky, I completed another handful of layouts this weekend!  My girlies came over and we headed to the Penthouse for a night of scrappy lovin'...

Me thinks I've used this paper (above) at least one or two other times, but I absolutely love it and am sad that this was my last piece.

Show and Tell...

Well color me happy, I managed to carve out a few hours of scrapping time this weekend and eeked out three layouts.

Let's have a look shall we?

This first one delights me because I'd apparently bought this stuff a while back and then forgot about it.  While digging for something else, I stumbled across the bag and voila... a surprise!

 
 

This next one is definitely a testiment to using something old in a new way...

See the fishies at the bottom?  Those are leaf petals from some super old EK Success paper.  (The metal edged tag is supposed to be straight but I guess I cocked it over to the side when I put the page on the scanner.)

And this one, which really shows me that I need to wipe off my scanner (finger prints on the black background) is a favorite, simply because it captures an every day moment that I usually take for granted. 

I swear it's not this crooked in real life...  (The layout, not the look.)

And with that, we are done with show and tell... I need to get off of this 'puter and go hang with my lovies.
